The farm is the dream of a lifetime, but better.

In 2019 we purchased this gorgeous 40 acre plot of land. It had a soy field that was previously a hay field, ravines and a very wet area that had a reputation for swallowing tractors. I literally fell into a rut left by the previous farmer when walking the property with the realtor. We first had a 1-acre lake installed in that wet area, and landscaped with native plants brought from my beautiful native plant nursery, Avalon Gardens Inn and Nursery. The gorgeous, excavated topsoil was lovingly and thoughtfully placed by the amazing man who built the lake for my future cut flower garden plots.

The farmhouse, barn, pastures and reestablished hayfields came next.  My husband Jody and I bought two wonderful horses, Katrina and Donut and still cannot believe this slice of heaven is where we live.

While still running Avalon Gardens Nursery & Inn, we also started to slowly grow peony bushes and flowers for cutting, native trees and plenty of shrubs for cutting of foliage and branches. These are the ingredients that have been making wedding magic happen for brides we have had the honor of providing florals for the past few years. Our new studio at our farm immediately became the best place for floral designing with ample space, light and views. We were working out of the basement of the B and B prior to that! As the floral design side of my business grew, and my family grew up and started their own families, it became time to think about moving the flower farm entirely to the new property. To better serve my brides and customers, family and self, we sold the native plant nursery and bed and breakfast to a lovely new owner, and moved our farmer florist design business to the farm.
Avalon Gardens, the Farmer Florist, is officially at the new farm on 40 acres!
